Nichol Behrens is the visionary founder behind Dare2Wear Life which highlights the inspiring work of internationally recognized and accomplished emotional artist Matt Abraham. Nichol openly shares her battles with depression, anxiety, and suicidal challenges along with the challenges of being a widow after losing her husband David to suicide following a traumatic brain injury.
Only a few months after her husband’s death, Nichol was asked to collaborate on a book defining her wake up moment in “The Awakened Woman - Dynamic Women Around the Globe’” with Steven Schmidt. During the lowest point of her life, she opened up to share her adversity and the emotional challenges of coping with the denial, pain, anger, guilt, and depression she and her children had to face. The heartbreaking loss of a loved one to suicide was a pivotal moment that now motivates Nichol to help others in dark places find light.
In 2020, Nichol stumbled upon artwork by a young father who captured the most intense emotions in his art after the loss of his wife and infant son while battling severe depression and alcoholism himself. Despite being 8,000 miles apart, a bond grew between the two through the stroke of a brush and pen. Each art piece emerged like magic on the canvas. Matt and Nichol found acceptance, understanding, inner peace, and hope.
Over the last few years, Matt has gifted hundreds of thousands of digital art pieces to widows around the world. Nichol has simultaneously distributed 10,000 small prints to passengers she’s encountered while driving for Uber in an effort to support the vision of the dynamic D2W artists who humbly create emotionally supportive treasures with love.
